Terms of Service
Effective September 14, 2026
Agreement
These terms govern your use of LadderStar, operated by Ladder Star LLC, 30 N Gould St, STE R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA ("we", "us"). By using LadderStar, or by buying a paid plan, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old. You're responsible for your account, for keeping your password secure, and for activity under your account. Give accurate information when you sign up. One person per account; don't share an account or create several to get around limits.
What LadderStar is
LadderStar is a practice tool. Co-Star, its AI practice partner, helps you rehearse conversations, interviews, talks and other speaking out loud, and writes feedback on your attempts. Co-Star is an AI system: it can be inaccurate, and its feedback is not professional, legal, medical, financial, employment or psychological advice. Use your own judgment.
Free use and limits
Visitors without an account get a short practice each day. A free account gets daily practice time, reviews, history and a skill profile at no cost. Limits are shown in the product and on the pricing page.
Paid plans include a monthly fair-use amount of practice. If you go past it, you can keep practicing with the free daily time until the first day of the next calendar month (UTC). We may change free limits, features and availability at any time.
Paid plans
LadderStar Plus and LadderStar Pro are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly. Current prices are US$8 a month or US$80 a year for Plus, and US$24 a month or US$240 a year for Pro. The price, billing period and what the plan includes are shown before you buy. Prices are in US dollars and include any sales tax or VAT we're required to collect.
Paid plans add more daily practice time and longer practices (up to 30 minutes on Plus and 60 minutes on Pro). Events, a feature for organizing practice around something you're preparing for, are part of Plus and Pro and are marked "coming soon" until they're available; your price doesn't depend on a release date.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for each billing period. We don't receive or store your full card number.
Automatic renewal
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, for the same period, and your payment method is charged the price then in effect, until you cancel. Invoices and receipts for every charge are available in Manage billing.
If we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before the change, and it applies from your next renewal after that notice. If you don't want to pay the new price, cancel before that renewal.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in Settings → Plan → Manage billing, or by emailing support@ladderstar.com. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep your plan until the end of the period you've already paid for, then your account moves to the free plan. Your practice history, reviews, skill profile and anything you saved in events stay in your account.
Refunds
Charges cover the billing period they're for and aren't refunded when you cancel partway through a period, except as described here or where the law requires it.
If a yearly plan renews and you didn't mean it to, email support@ladderstar.com within 14 days of the renewal charge. If you haven't used the paid plan since it renewed, we'll cancel it and refund that charge in full.
If you live in a country that gives consumers a right to withdraw from online purchases, such as the EU or the UK, you can cancel within 14 days of first subscribing and get a refund. If you asked to start using the plan during that time, the refund can be reduced in proportion to what you used.
If we end your paid plan for a reason other than a breach of these terms, or we stop offering it, we'll refund the unused part of any period you prepaid. Refunds go back to the original payment method.
Changing plans
You can switch between Plus and Pro, or between monthly and yearly billing, in Manage billing. The change takes effect right away. The difference for the rest of the current period is prorated: a move to a higher price is charged, and a move to a lower price becomes a credit on your next invoices.
Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and we may ask you to update your payment method. Your plan stays active for a limited time while payment is retried. If it still can't be collected, the subscription ends and your account moves to the free plan. Nothing you've saved is deleted because of a failed payment.
Changes to paid features
We improve LadderStar over time and may change features and limits. If we materially reduce what your paid plan includes, we'll tell you in advance, and the change applies from your next renewal after that notice, so you can cancel first if you prefer.
Acceptable use
Don't use LadderStar to break the law; to harass, threaten or impersonate anyone; to practice with or share other people's personal information without permission; to generate harmful or sexual content involving minors; to probe, overload or circumvent limits or security; or to scrape or resell the service. Don't use reviews as the sole basis for decisions about another person, such as hiring.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you say, write and upload, including notes and files you add to events. You give us permission to process it to run LadderStar for you, including sending it to our AI provider as described in the Privacy Policy. You're responsible for having the right to share what you submit.
AI agents and integrations
If you connect an outside AI agent to your LadderStar account, you're responsible for the actions you authorize it to take, and you can revoke its access.
Our service and ending access
LadderStar, its software, design and the Co-Star character belong to Ladder Star LLC. We may suspend or end access for violations of these terms, for fraud or chargeback abuse, or to protect the service or others; if we end a paid plan for a breach of these terms, it isn't refunded. You may stop using LadderStar at any time and can ask us to delete your account. Deleting your account cancels any subscription.
Disclaimers and liability
LadderStar is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, Ladder Star LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost opportunities or outcomes related to anything you practiced, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the prior twelve months or US$50. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms. We'll revise the effective date, and for changes that materially affect paid plans we'll notify subscribers by email before they take effect. Questions about these terms: legal@ladderstar.com. Billing and support: support@ladderstar.com.
