Terms of Service

These Terms govern access to and use of LadderStar, including Member accounts, the job board, AI interview sessions, Co-Star AI chat, subscriptions, and Stars.

Effective date and last updated: August 1, 2026

1. Agreement and operator

By creating an account, accessing an interview invitation, clicking an acceptance control, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using LadderStar, you agree to these Terms and the policies incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

If you use LadderStar for a company, client, school, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. In that case, "you" includes both you and the organization.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a binding agreement to use LadderStar or participate in a LadderStar AI interview. The service is not directed to children.

You may use LadderStar only where the service and its AI providers are available and lawful. You may not use the service if you are barred under applicable law, sanctions, or binding contractual restrictions.

3. Member accounts and guest participants

LadderStar uses a universal Member account model. Public product features are not divided into Talent, Employer, or Mentor account types. Admin and owner roles are restricted operational roles and are not public sign-up options.

You must provide accurate information, keep credentials secure, promptly update material information, and notify us of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.

A person may participate in a named interview invitation without an account after confirming the invited email address. The invitation is personal, single-use, and may not be transferred or shared. Email confirmation verifies a match to the invitation; it is not a guarantee of identity.

4. The LadderStar service

LadderStar provides private Member profiles, an aggregate job board and saved jobs, self-run and sent AI interview sessions, private interview history and reports, Co-Star AI chat, Stars wallets and subscriptions, feedback and notification tools, and account settings.

Public profiles, user job posting, employer pipelines, mentor rosters, resume creation, recording, and human-to-human messaging are retired and are not part of the current service. Historical data from retired features may be retained without an active product surface.

We may add, change, suspend, or retire features. We do not promise that a particular feature, listing, model, voice, provider, plan, or integration will remain available indefinitely.

5. AI interview sessions

A Member may run an AI interview for themselves or spend Stars to send a named invitation to another person. Sent invitations may include an interview brief, required-question agenda, organization or role context, and a portable job snapshot. When required questions are provided, they guide the AI interview but do not guarantee exact wording, order, or complete treatment.

Live microphone audio is transmitted through LadderStar's relay to Google Gemini. LadderStar stores transcripts, reports, scores, feedback, timestamps, duration, and operational events. Interview recording is retired; the service does not currently save live audio or video as a recording.

For a sent interview, the Member whose Stars funded the session receives the private transcript and report. The participant receives a completion receipt and does not receive the private report through the participant flow. Authorized LadderStar operators may access session records for support, security, moderation, billing, and legal purposes.

An invitation can expire, be revoked, be reset, or become unavailable after use or excessive reconnects. Meaningful completion consumes the sender's reserved Stars; qualifying technical or empty failures may release unused Stars under the service's metering rules.

6. Responsibilities for sent interviews

If you send an interview, you represent that you have a lawful reason and appropriate authority to provide the recipient's contact information, the interview brief, job or organization context, required questions, and other third-party information. You are responsible for giving recipients any notice and obtaining any consent required by employment, privacy, communications, and other applicable laws.

You must independently review every report and consider relevant context. You may not use LadderStar output as the sole basis for hiring, rejection, promotion, compensation, access to education, credit, housing, insurance, or another legal or similarly significant decision. You may not infer protected traits, disabilities, health, emotion, personality, honesty, or biometric characteristics from a participant's voice, words, or appearance.

LadderStar does not act as an employer, recruiter, employment agency, background-check provider, consumer-reporting agency, or decision maker for you. You are solely responsible for your decisions and for determining whether your use requires an impact assessment, bias audit, notice, consent, accommodation, appeal process, human review, or other safeguard.

7. AI output and professional judgment

AI-generated questions, chat responses, transcripts, scores, summaries, feedback, recommendations, and images may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, offensive, delayed, or unsuitable. Transcription may mishear speakers, and scores may not reflect actual ability or job performance. Similar output may be generated for other users.

You must review output before relying on, publishing, or sharing it. LadderStar does not provide legal, employment, financial, medical, immigration, psychological, or other professional advice and does not guarantee interviews, job offers, compensation, candidate quality, employer response, or any professional outcome.

8. Your content and permissions

You retain any ownership rights you have in content you submit. You grant Ladder Star LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, transmit, process, display to authorized recipients, and create technical or AI-generated derivatives of that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support, and improve the service, comply with law, and enforce these Terms.

This license does not authorize LadderStar to publish your private profile, resume, interview transcript, or private report for marketing. We may use content for promotion only with separate permission or after it has been aggregated or de-identified so it does not identify you.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed for content you submit. Do not provide unlawful, infringing, deceptive, confidential, or sensitive third-party information without authorization. Feedback about LadderStar may be used without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.

9. Aggregate jobs and third-party opportunities

Job listings may come from LadderStar's retained public records or providers such as Careerjet, Jooble, and Adzuna. LadderStar is not the employer and does not control or guarantee a listing's accuracy, availability, legality, compensation, safety, or hiring process. Listings may change, expire, duplicate another result, or lead to an external site.

You are responsible for evaluating an opportunity, verifying the employer, protecting personal information, and deciding whether to apply. Third-party sites and applications are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. A saved job snapshot is a convenience and may not reflect later changes to the source listing.

10. Subscriptions, billing, and Stars

Stripe processes paid subscriptions and related billing. Prices, billing cycles, features, and monthly Star allowances are displayed in the pricing and checkout experience. By starting a paid subscription, you authorize recurring charges until cancellation. Taxes may apply.

Cancellation stops future renewals after the effective cancellation date but does not automatically refund the current billing period. Published pricing or package changes generally apply to new checkout sessions and do not automatically reprice an existing active subscription unless disclosed or separately agreed. Failed or reversed payments may suspend paid entitlements or return the account to free-plan limits.

Stars are limited, revocable service credits—not money, legal tender, stored value, gift cards, property, or transferable balances. Monthly allowances reset and do not roll over unless the applicable offer expressly says otherwise. Interview usage is generally metered in five-minute blocks, and a sent interview may reserve Stars before it begins. The pricing experience and wallet ledger control if summary copy conflicts with actual account records.

Additional terms are in the Refund Policy. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable cancellation, refund, or cooling-off rights.

11. Acceptable use

You may not use LadderStar to violate law or another person's rights; discriminate or facilitate unlawful employment decisions; harass, threaten, impersonate, defraud, spam, scrape, phish, distribute malware, probe or bypass security, overload the service, extract models or prompts, reverse engineer protected systems, share invitation tokens without authorization, or obtain information under false pretenses.

You may not submit government identifiers, financial account data, health information, trade secrets, confidential employer information, or third-party personal information unless you have a lawful right and a clear need to do so. You may not use AI features to generate unlawful, deceptive, infringing, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, or otherwise harmful content or to bypass provider safety controls.

The Acceptable Use Policy is incorporated into these Terms.

12. Third-party services and intellectual property

LadderStar relies on third-party services, including Google, Firebase, Vercel, Stripe, Resend, and job providers. Their services may be subject to separate terms, availability, regional restrictions, and privacy practices. LadderStar is not responsible for third-party sites or services outside our control.

LadderStar's software, interfaces, branding, documentation, and service content are owned by Ladder Star LLC or its licensors and are protected by law. Except for the limited right to use the service under these Terms, no intellectual-property rights are granted to you.

13. Moderation, suspension, and termination

We may remove content, limit features, suspend application access, disable sign-in, revoke invitations, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a Terms violation, security or safety risk, fraud, abuse, nonpayment, legal exposure, or harm to the service or others.

You may stop using LadderStar and may request account deletion through supported settings. Account deletion currently disables access and marks records as deleted; it does not immediately erase every operational, billing, interview, audit, security, or backup record. The Privacy Policy describes retention and privacy requests.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including content permissions already necessary for retained records, payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, dispute terms, and enforcement rights.

14. Disclaimers, liability, and indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LadderStar is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, security, or results. We do not warrant uninterrupted service, error-free AI output, accurate job listings, or preservation of data.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ladder Star LLC and its officers, employees, contractors, and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost profits, opportunities, goodwill, or data; employment or business outcomes; or service interruption. Our aggregate liability for claims arising from or relating to LadderStar will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid LadderStar during the three months before the event giving rise to the claim or 100 U.S. dollars.

If you use LadderStar for an organization or to evaluate another person, you will defend and indemnify Ladder Star LLC and its officers, employees, and contractors from third-party claims, damages, penalties, and reasonable costs arising from your submitted content, interview instructions, decisions, legal notices or consents, violation of law, or breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent prohibited by law or caused by LadderStar's own unlawful conduct.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or limitations. In those jurisdictions, these provisions apply only to the maximum extent permitted, and non-waivable consumer rights remain unaffected.

15. Changes, disputes, and general terms

We may update these Terms as the service, providers, or law changes. We will post the revised effective date and provide additional notice when required or when a change materially affects existing users. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law; if you do not agree, you must stop using the service.

Before filing a claim, you agree to send a description to legal@ladderstar.com and allow at least 30 days for an informal resolution, unless immediate action is legally necessary. These Terms are governed by Wyoming law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory law provides otherwise. Subject to non-waivable rights, claims must be brought in the state courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming, or the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming, and each party consents to their jurisdiction.

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or asset transfer. These Terms and incorporated policies are the entire agreement concerning LadderStar unless a separate written agreement applies.
